The Panther Post

The BCHS Bi-weekly Newsletter - December 21, 2018

From the desk of Mrs. Wieland:

Dear Panther Families,

It is hard to believe that we have completed the first semester of year three at BCHS! It is an exciting time for our students and staff. As we prepare for next semester, we need some help from parents. We need you to help us monitor your student's progress in both college and high school. You can see high school grades through Skyward. By checking this regularly, you can help your student stay on track. For college updates, you will need to have your student login and show you their assignments and grades or you can call the school in January for your student's login. We have many students that are accepting zeros for work instead of completing the work. Please set aside a time each week or two to sit down with your student and view their high school and college progress. We appreciate your help in this area. We look forward to working with our Panther Families in 2019.

I hope each of you has a restful and relaxing holiday. We will see all students on January 8th! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wieland

Attendance is vital to success!

Attendance is important! Students at BCHS cannot afford to miss time at school, especially in their college classes. Students should be present at school, unless they are ill. If students are ill, parents should notify the front office and send a written note or doctor's note with their child when he/she returns.

Parents - check your email! Parent of students who owe time because they are not meeting the 90% attendance rule will be notified by email.

You can also find it under Parents/Students on the BCHS website. It is called College Absence Form!

Crime Stoppers and Friends for Life

Please take a moment to review the BISD Safety and Security website to learn about our safety programs, including Crime Stoppers and Friends For Life.

BISD knows that students see and hear things. A vital step in prevention is early identification of potential threats and intelligence gathering. In partnership with Tarrant County Crime Stoppers and Friends for Life, BISD provides students with a platform to submit anonymous tips. Students are encouraged to report information that is criminal, threatening, inappropriate, or potentially harmful on topics that may include:

Bullying
Dating violence
Cyberbullying
Family violence/abuse
Gang activity
Sexting
Sexual harassment
Suicidal thoughts

Students are able to anonymously submit tips through a phone app, at www.469tips.com or by calling Crime Stoppers 817-469-8477.

Our students learned about these programs when Mrs. Alley visited their classes earlier this year, and they may come home with questions.

If you have questions, feel free to email or call our office.
