Quote of the week
“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” - Thomas Jefferson
From Mr. Wingfield
Well we are finished with STAAR testing and I am very proud of our kids and the effort they put into all of their tests. I am sure it was difficult to stay focused over a 2-4 week period, but they did it. I appreciate all of the efforts to make sure they were here and in the seats during testing time. It absolutely made the process easier.
With STAAR behind us we are starting our end of year processes and looking at plans for next year. Part of that is planning for Summer School for those that may need it. Please talk to your students about making sure they stay on top of their work for the remainder of the semester. If students are in a position where they may need Summer School, we will begin talking to them next week.
We will have the 8th grade field trip on May 9th. 8th grade students will be traveling to Brenham and going to Silver Wings Skating Rink. Last week we sent permission slips home with the students. Please call our office if you did not receive one. They must fill out and return the permission form in order to attend. Students will not have their phones so please call our office if you need to get in touch with them. All 8th grade students will need a sack lunch.
May 25th is our 8th grade promotion ceremony. We want to send our 8th graders off to HS with some words of encouragement and highlight some accomplishments from their MS years. Students should wear their Sunday best and stay within dress code. Boys may wear nice jeans with a collared shirt. Please call our office if you have any questions.
Update:
In an effort to continually keep our students and campus safe, all parents will need to physically enter the building in order to check out your child for any reason. We will pull your child out of class when you arrive and have gone through the check-out procedures. Thanks for your cooperation.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.

The Capturing Kids Heart focus for April will be Integrity
What is Integrity?
Integrity is the ability and willingness to live with honesty and excellence. People who act with integrity make a choice to do the right thing, no matter who is watching. Integrity is the foundation on which we build relationships and trust.
Why Focus on Integrity?
- Integrity generates trust. When we are honest and follow through on promises, we gain the confidence of our team; Trust allows us to collaborate and achieve more together.
- Integrity encourages self-assessment. Integrity requires our regular self-assessment to align behaviors with our goals and self-beliefs.
- Integrity is essential in leadership. Great leaders decrease anxiety and build strong teams when they are honest, consistent, and responsible.
Integrity In Action
- Acknowledge and affirm acts with integrity. Publicly praise students who model acts of integrity such as honesty and honor. Encourage students to identify classmates who show integrity.
- Use scenarios and role play. Challenge students with real-life scenarios and situations that allow them to reflect, discuss, and choose the best next step or action.
- Create a culture of accountability. Invite students to give you feedback. Ask students to rate the class based on your Social Contract. Empower students with choice-based consequences.
From our Bus Barn
A reminder to students that they must get out to the bus loop as soon as the school day ends. They need to be on the bus and make sure they are modeling positive behavior. We have elementary school kids on the buses and they are looking for great role models that are practicing and following our campus and district expectations.
Construction Updates
Ag Shop
The new ag shop looks amazing! The shop space is complete with only a few punch list items to finish and the installation of new tools and machinery. The masonry on the new front entrance is nearing completion, and the classroom space is not far behind.
Renovations to Red Brick Building
Renovating the red brick classrooms is also nearing completion. The interior of this building has been brought back to life and is going to be an amazing space for our CTE classes. We are close to seeing flooring put into the classrooms and then will be right around the corner from moving in classroom furniture.
Classroom Additions and Connector
We have a roof and electrical is going in. It is really starting to take shape. Hopefully we will now stay on schedule
Weight Room
Masonry is up and cover is on.
Cafeteria and Kitchen Renovations
Continued construction will begin when school lets out
