What is Prostate Cancer ?
Population affected:
- -men
- -More common in older men around the age of 65>
- -family history with BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation
- obesity
Symptoms :
- trouble urinating
- decrease force in the stream of urine
- blood in the semen
- blood in the urine
- pain in the lower back,hips and thigh
- discomfort in the pelvic area
- bone pain
Treatment :
- Radioactive therapy
- Horomone therapy
- Surgery to remove the prostate
- Freezing the Prostate tissue
- Heating the Prostate tissue with ultasound
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
Prognosis :
- 1 of 37 die from prostate cancer
- According to the American Cancer Society, 92% of the men survive at least 5 years.
- 91% of men survive at least 10 years
Complications:
-erectile dysfunction
