The Compass Notes for Families
September 23, 2022

Hello, Pirate family!
We've had a full week of learning and leading! This week, your student(s) picked their one word that best describes them. We're so excited to see their living lockers encompass your students' personality and leadership. What's your one word? What one word would you pick for your family to live every day? We appreciate you and all of your support!
Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Allison Page, Compass Assistant Principal

New Information
Coffee & Conversation with Dr. Jay Harris, Superintendent at Compass
Compass Families! Our new Superintendent, Dr. Jay Harris, is inviting parents and community members to join us for "Coffee & Conversation" connections in our buildings, and will be visiting Compass on Friday, October 14 from 8:45-9:45am in our Compass Cafeteria! These informal events are designed to share our District goals and listen and learn from families to improve our overall educational experience for our students. We hope you can join!
Open Positions at PCR-3
The school year has started, but we still have some openings across our District, including bus drivers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and lunch monitors. If interested in joining our team, click here to apply! Specifically at Compass Elementary, we have openings for a Lunch Monitor and Custodian.
Homecoming 2022: A Storybook Homecoming, October 3-8
Platte County's Homecoming festivities run October 3-8, 2022. This year's theme is "A Storybook Homecoming." Click here for information on Homecoming activities, including spirit week information, the Homecoming Victory Supper, parade, and football game.
PLEASE NOTE: There are some changes to parade staging this year, and the PCHS Band will be performing at Wells Bank's Community Tailgate Party instead of the Courthouse Steps.

There is a Leader in Me!
If your family is new to Compass Elementary, you may be hearing about The 8 Habits of Leadership or the phrase, "Leader in Me" from your student(s). What is it? Why are we invested? "Instead of focusing on academic measures alone, Leader in Me embodies a holistic approach to education, redefining how schools measure success. This approach empowers educators with effective practices and tools to:
- teach LEADERSHIP to every student,
- create a CULTURE of student empowerment,
- and align systems to drive results in ACADEMICS."
In future newsletters, we will be highlighting more information about Leader in Me and how you can support your kiddo(s) at home with the 8 Habits of Leadership. Check out our 8 Habits and CLICK HERE for a video highlighting "Why Leader in Me?
