SJCS Family Newsletter
January 2023
Over the course of this last semester, we have accomplished a massive amount of work as we work toward fulfilling our commitment to our vision and mission. Some of that work has only affected our internal systems: curriculum alignment, behavior framework, and technology upgrades to name a few. And, some of that work has resulted in changes felt by our school community which may be hard to understand.
If I could put an analogy to the work of this last semester, I would say we are at the point in cleaning out your garage where everything is laying out on the driveway and the garage only contains the empty shelves. Right now, the yard looks like a hot mess and the neighbors are driving by wondering if you will get everything back inside.
Some of the items on the driveway are valuable power tools, some need to be dusted off and given a new location, some are out of date (but not old enough to be valuable antiques), and some are broken. Not everything will be able to fit back inside so we have to figure out the most important things. So, we are doing some serious evaluating so we can determine exactly what needs to go back into the garage and in what plastic bin with which color coded label.
If you've ever done a big garage cleanout, you know this can be an overwhelming process. I want to take a moment to acknowledge how those changes may have been felt during this messy middle. And, I want to thank you, our outstanding parents, for your trust, patience and understanding as we work through the process of qualifying and quantifying our school priorities.
Finally, I am astounded at the thinking, dedication, and grit of our teaching staff as they have worked diligently to accomplish some big foundational pieces of education in just a short few months. They are the reason our kids know and see Jesus each day.
If you have a moment, please send an email/text/letter to one of our teachers letting them know that they are valued, treasured, and appreciated for their dedication to forming the whole student--mind, body & spirit--in a Catholic environment committed to a culture of belonging.
God bless & Go Eagles!

Update on Academic Awards Ceremonies
As a school, we are working to align our values and commitments in every realm of our mission. We want to make sure the things we celebrate are what holds the most value to us as an institution, and most importantly, what is helping to elevate our students to holiness.
Please note, we will still publish the honor roll recognitions in The Eagle.
We ask for your prayers as we discern the best way for us to recognize our students in the formation of their whole selves.
