Hoops for Hearts
Hendricks Public School to Hold Jump Rope & Hoops for Heart Event
Students of Hendricks Public School will soon be taking shots at heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No.3 killers. On Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1:45 pm, the school will hold its 16th American Heart Association Event (our 9th combined Jump Rope & Hoops for Heart Event). Students will practice their basketball and jump rope skills, perform jump rope routines and raise funds for the American Heart Association, which fund cardiovascular disease, research and public and professional education programs.
Hoops and Jump Rope for Heart is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance-now SHAPE America. The average heart beats 100,000 times each day. One of the best ways to take care of your heart is to make exercise a part of your everyday lifestyle.
This will be a great way to provide a fun community service, as well as, provide actual role models for developing positive attitudes toward promoting healthy lifestyles through playing basketball and jumping rope.
Please support our event! If you have any questions, or if you are interested in being a participant in the event, please contact Mrs. Doom, at Hendricks Public School, at (507) 275-3115 (ex110) or hope.doom@isd402.org. Top collector prize has not yet been determined, but may be tossing a pie into Mr. Ethan Pearson (student teacher starting in March).
