What we're learning this week...
Phonics: Sneaky Y as a vowel (e or i sound)
Book: Growing Frogs by Vivian French
Reading Strategies: Informative text features, fiction vs. nonfiction texts, adding information to our schema
Math: Numbers to 100, addition word problems, number handwriting practice, fluency of addition and subtraction within 10, partners of 10 (how to make 10), review of teen numbers as a group of ten and extra ones
Writing: Informational writing, letter formation (handwriting practice), 5 star writing rubric (finger spaces, proper punctuation, capital letters at the beginning of the sentence, spelling sight words correctly, does my writing make sense?)
Social Studies: Community helpers
Science: Life cycle of frogs, All about plants
Religion: We Belong to the Church
Social Skills: Accepting Criticism or a Consequence and Following Instructions
Virtue: Diligence
Social and Emotional Learning: Identifying problems: children discuss the first two steps in solving problems (stop, talk) and practice identifying and stating problems presented in scenarios.
Class Party! Kindergarteners can wear their PAJAMAS to school on Wednesday, May 4th! The kids worked very hard on cooperating and making good choices to earn this party. They picked a movie, pj, popcorn, donut party!! | Night of Art and Music Please join us for our Art and Music Night on Wednesday, May 4th @ 5:00 - 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. All students will have art pieces on display, and our students enrolled in Band classes will have a performance as well! | May Crowning When: Friday, May 6th @ 11:15 am What to bring: Flowers for Mary the morning of Friday, 5/6 - send flowers with your child to school and we will help collect and send to church for the display What to wear: Mass uniform required Families are welcome to attend! |
