Carver Elementary Coyote Newsletter
December 2021
Dear Families,
Please remember to notify the school if your child will be absent, whether for illness, vacation or doctor appointments. As we try to get back into a regular routine, please do your best to schedule appointments after school, as we have noticed that students' absences are higher than normal for things that are not related to COVID.
We have a few important reminders in this newsletter, that may help you with keeping updated on school events and timelines. Call the school if you have any questions or would like to speak with me or any of our Associate Principals.

Please use the link below to log into Aspen. Once you have logged into Aspen, you will see a section on the lower right hand side of the screen that says “Published Reports”. This is where you will find your student’s Report Card. Once Report Cards are ready for distribution, they are published by school staff. You will receive an email from Aspen that tells you that your student’s report card is ready to view. Go to the Published Reports Section, and you should see all the students you are a contact for and access their report card.

Jingle Jog
Jingle Jog
When: December 23rd, 2021
Students will participate as a grade level outside for a 15-minute jog during their special. Hot cocoa will be served after, under the awnings in the back of the school.
Parents/Guardians are welcome to come to the outdoor event which will be held on the field. We will need 5-6 parent volunteers to help us out. Please call the school to sign up to help.
Being Prepared for Outdoor Recess
It is officially winter and we need your help to ensure that children get outdoors for fresh air, exercise and play as long as it is safe to do so. Please help us by ensuring that children have the proper outdoor gear. If they do not have the proper gear to play outside, students may need to remain inside to enjoy a book or engage in a brain break. Also, please be aware that we have plenty of outdoor equipment, playground balls and other games that the students can access for recess. There is no need for students to bring in any of their own play equipment.
Carver Elementary School Early Release Day Update
Tuesday, January 25, 2022, will be an Early Release day
in place of Thursday, October 28, 2021
which was cancelled due to the Power Outage/Weather.
Please mark your calendars regarding this important change to the school day.
Note: This is an Early Release Day for Carver Elementary School only.
Social Media Presentation for our Grades 4 & 5 students
On December 20, our 4th and 5th graders will participate in a social media presentation with Assistant DA, Amanda Fowle. This program is a collaboration with our School Resource Officer and the Commonwealth. The purpose is to teach students more about Internet Safety. Here are some topics that will be covered.
Digital Footprint: What it is and why it is important. Students should be careful about what they are sharing because it will follow them forever.
Strangers: Online ‘friends’ are still strangers. Students should remember not to share any information with anyone online. Examples were given on how easily even brief information could identify your hometown and exact home address.
Cyberbullying: The use of technology to hurt, threaten, harass, tease or target another person.
Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Share with your parents/guardians what you have downloaded, the sites you have visited, and who you are communicating with online.SPOTLIGHTING OUR KIND STUDENTS AT CES!
The theme at CES this school year is "Above All Be Kind." Students are being challenged to be the "I" in Kind. Teachers will nominate students who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate kindness to others. From recent nominations, the following 5 students have been selected to showcase in this newsletter.
