Quilt Raffle
If you've visited the Community Room at the library lately, you'll have noticed the gorgeous quilt hanging there. It was lovingly crafted and generously donated by a library patron so that YOU can have a chance at owning it. Raffle tickets ($10) go on sale April 28th and will be sold all summer long. The winner will be drawn and announced on September 12th. All proceeds benefit the library.
Spring Plant Sale
The Plant Sale is back!
It's Spring at last...Right?! It is Spring, right?! ...and it's time for planting. Bring cash and head to the outdoor area behind the library on Saturday May 7th from 9-11 AM. Proceeds benefit the library, and plants benefit everyone!

Paint & Fly Birdhouse Painting Workshop, Sunday May 15th 1:00-3:00 PM
Naomi Meyer will lead this workshop on painting a decorative and functional birdhouse for your yard. Grassland Bird Trust volunteer Ron Renoni will join us to provide information on what birds to attract and how. Materials provided. Come with your creativity, and leave with a beautiful birdhouse! All ages welcome; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult; one birdhouse per family/group; space is limited.
Composting with Red Wigglers, Sunday May 22, 2:30 PM
Learn about red wiggler composting worms — how they are different from earthworms in your yard, and why they like banana peels, apple cores, and moldy strawberries. Adirondack Worm Farm will show you how to set up a worm bin and compost all year indoors, with no odor or mess. Join this event and you'll also be able to see the worms up close (and hold them, if you'd like).
Adirondack Worm Farm is based in Kingsbury, producing vermicast and composting food scraps (including through a drop-off program at Greenwich Free Library). Since 2019, they have diverted more than 23 tons of food from the waste stream.
If you're still not convinced about home composting, consider signing up with the library's food scraps program with Adirondack Worm Farm. Sign up in the library, and then drop off compostable materials during open hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays.
As of March 31, Greenwich Free Library participants had composted a total of 133.4 pounds of food waste and other biodegradable “trash.”

Expand Your Library Network
In response to book bans and challenges in school and public libraries around the United States, two of New York's biggest library systems, New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library, have created free programs for teen readers across the country to access eBook copies of some of the titles that may be disappearing from library shelves.
Did you know that all New York State residents are eligible for library cards at both NYPL and BPL? Read more about these special programs and about signing up for you own card below.
