THE SCHOOL BELL
Williston Schools /April 1, 2020
Vermont Governor Phil Scott extended the closure of all Vermont schools through the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
Governor Scott recently announced that we will not return to in-person schooling the remainder of the school year.
Teachers, staff members, and administrators will be preparing for remote new learning for students to begin April 13 through the remainder of the school year.
We understand that this new and different manner of continuing education can be challenging. During this time of school closure, we are aiming to provide students and families with access to an educational routine that is still engaging while not creating a burden.
Survey sent to Families
If you haven't already, please take a moment to complete the survey below as a simple check-in so that we may use this feedback to tailor our approach to meet the needs of this new educational environment.
If you have more than one child, we do ask that you complete this separately for each of them. The feedback you provide will help inform their teachers as we move forward.
Thank you and be well.

Please use the order form found on this flyer to help us plan and prepare enough meals for everyone who has a need. https://bit.ly/CVSDRemoteFood
Orders will include both breakfast and lunch. This week we are adding a chef’s salad and homemade Macaroni and Cheese to the lunch entree choices! Each meal includes fresh vegetables, fruit or juice, a snack and choice of milk. Sandwiches can be made gluten-free.
If you have trouble with the form or need any additional assistance in accessing meals, please contact Scott Wagner, swagner@cvsdvt.org, (802) 871-6198. We are here to help!

Williston Community Food Shelf
The Williston Community Food Shelf is OPEN and providing food to Williston and St. George individuals and families who might need some support during this uncertain time. Our regular operating hours are Tuesdays 5-6:30pm, Thursdays 9-11:00am and Saturdays 9-11:00am.
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, the food shelf has changed its policy and is now using a "Curbside" delivery method to ensure that there is no direct contact between customers and volunteers. Each customer receives a pre-packaged box of non-perishable food filled according to family size and is also able to order breads, meats, produce and dairy depending on availability. Williston, St. George and Richmond families with school age children will also receive vacation bags (2 per month) of food.
Customers are asked to please bring a piece of mail with their name and address to verify residence. The WCFS website is currently down but more information can be found at our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Williston-Community-Food-Shelf or by calling (802) 735-6303.
Need to Find Child Care?
Part 2 has put together this Part 2 staffing database. In this document, you will find contact and other information from many of our Part 2 staff members. All of the people on this document are looking to pick up hours during the school hiatus. We thought this database might be helpful if you're looking at having someone come to your house to help with child care during this unexpected break. Part 2's only role in this process is sharing this document. Everything else: schedule, rate, payments, responsibilities, expectations, etc. will be up to you and the person you choose to employ. Also, feel free to share this document with your friends that also may be looking for extra help during these weeks.
A Message from Four Winds
Dear Williston Teachers, Families, and Students,
We hope this message finds you all well during this time. Since we won't be able to join you in the classroom for Four Winds this month, we have put the activities, puppet show, and some other engaging resources into a Google Slides lesson so we can reach you at home. Hopefully it will inspire you to find time to go outside and make observations, discoveries, and creations of your own.
With spring in the air, this lesson focuses on "Feathering the Nest". What kinds of birds do we see around us? What of nests do they make?
To get started, just click on this link .
We hope you have lots of hands-on fun exploring the world around you. Please let us know what you think of this presentation and if there is anything else we can do to support your learning at home.
