Need help?
Food shortages and supply chain issues may impact school meals temporarily
Due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload and transfer products, some food, beverage, and/or paper products normally provided to students may not always be available. These supply chain issues may necessitate last-minute menu changes and food substitutions. Stay up to date with the most recent menu changes by visiting our online menus or downloading the Nutrislice App.
The Food and Nutrition Services Department is working closely with distributors to source menu options that meet the federal guidelines for Child Nutrition Programs. You can be assured that meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
Discover documents, exhibits, films, blog posts, and more from the National Archives and Presidential Libraries that highlight Hispanic culture.
Know anyone who would be a good fit?

Mask Reminder
A reminder that all students, staff, and visitors are required to wear a face mask indoors when inside District 196 buildings. This includes if you are coming into the building during school hours or attending a volleyball game, conferences or any indoor event in the evening.
Face masks are optional for outdoor events.
What If My Student Tests Postive for COVID?
Anyone experiencing illness should follow the Minnesota Department of Health Recommended COVID-19 Decision Tree, stay home, and are strongly recommended to get tested. If a person tests positive for COVID-19 and has symptoms, they should stay home and isolate for at least 10 days from the time the symptoms begin until symptoms have improved AND they have been fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medication. All families are required to report their student(s) positive test results to our school nurse, Lori Henke, by calling 952-431-8220
Common to other illnesses, once our nurse is notified of an extended absence, she contacts our Assistant Principal, Pete Buesgens, who in turn reaches out to teachers to let them know that the student will be working on school from home and to ensure that all assignments are available in Schoology, or to make arrangements if assignments need to be sent home or picked-up as needed. We do not share private data about the health condition unless it is pertinent to the class activities.

2020-21 Yearbook Update
Monday, October 11th is Indigenous Peoples Day
Indigenous Peoples Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories, cultures, and contributions to this world.
Discussions of Indigenous Peoples Day allow students, parents, and families to engage and celebrate the unique history of *Mni Sota, the land where the water reflects the clouds. It is an opportunity to highlight the contributions of Indigenous peoples which make our communities stronger.
District 196 has a thriving Native American community. Currently, we have over 525 indigenous students across the district representing over 45 different sovereign nations. A majority of our students are Ojibwe and Dakota/Lakota.
We would highly recommend you visit the For our Future: An Advocate's Guide to Supporting Indigenous Peoples Day. This website was created through IllumiNative - a nonprofit initiative designed to increase the visibility of - and challenge the negative narrative about - Native Nations and peoples in American society.
More resources are available in the District 196 American Indian Education's October Newsletter.
*Mni Sota: Dakota Language
