Mental Health and School Counseling
Hello Again
Hi everyone!
We hope this second November Newsletter finds you well! As we wrap up another month of the fall semester, we just want to send some encouragement your way. You all are doing a great job and serving your students so well. We hope this holiday break provides an opportunity for rest and rejuvenation. You have completed a leg of the marathon! Only a few more weeks in December before another well-earned break. Please be kind to yourselves as you wade through the upcoming weeks. We are so looking forward to hosting some of you for our Self-Care Retreat for School Counselors, Nurses, and Social Workers! If you aren't joining us, we'll miss you but hope you set aside time for self-care for yourself. Self-care is not a one size fits all, but it is vital and not the least bit selfish. It is one category I find consistently needing to "practice what I preach," but when I do I realize how beneficial it is to my well-being. I've linked it before, but it doesn't hurt to remind you all that Headspace is free to educators, so feel free to take advantage of that if it is a form of self-care that is beneficial to you!

Mental Health First Aid
Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of existing symptoms, or a mental health crisis. The first aid is provided until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
If you can assist in this research by completing up to 3 online surveys, please click here for more information and participation by November 30.
To bring the Youth MHFA course to your campus or re-certify staff in the new curriculum who are now expired, please contact your LMHA Outreach Worker. Please remember: this course is FREE through your LMHA and is listed on Governor Abbott's School Safety Initiative.
