Dear EUSD Families and Staff,
As this week winds down, we have seen the daily case rates in EUSD slowing. For that, we are thankful. We have also seen our student daily absences decrease as students and staff return to school healthy. While we know this surge is not over, we are optimistic that things are trending in the right direction. Thank you for your continued support!
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Volunteer Process Reminders
We are thrilled to have had volunteers back on our campuses supporting extracurricular activities and events since December! Beginning this week, we are also excited to welcome back volunteers supporting classroom instruction such as reading groups, small group math, 1:1 student support, etc. Additionally, volunteers for field trips can begin.
We wanted to provide a few reminders about the Volunteer Application and Protocols necessary to maintain our priority of student and staff health and safety.
In order to adhere to new CDPH guidelines, including mandatory vaccination requirements for volunteers, we are requiring interested volunteers to complete an online application and to upload necessary documents. To complete the volunteer application, please click this link. You will need your Driver’s License or ID and your vaccination record. The volunteer application includes acknowledgement of the need to follow EUSD COVID-19 safety protocols while on campus and to follow a volunteer code of conduct. Each week, school sites receive an updated list of volunteers that are eligible to be on campus. Please allow at least one week for your completed application to be approved. As an example, applications received by Friday will likely be on the approved list by the following Friday. This list is generated from the completed application and indicates to the school site that the volunteer meets the necessary requirements including vaccination status. Once approved, volunteers will be invited or scheduled according to the site or classroom needs. School sites may have additional orientations and/or trainings per their usual process. Please look for specific information from your site principal about requirements related to your school.
For more information, please use this link to review our Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page.
Note: Visitors to campus for events, etc., do not need to complete a Volunteer application.
Inclusion in Action: Next Week
We are excited to designate next week as Inclusion in Action week! Students will be learning about individuals with neurodiversities, and how they navigate school and life despite challenges. The lessons will be offered during students' TRAC classes the week of 1/31-2/4, and are based on lessons developed by our Special Education Parent Council. The Parent Council has worked tirelessly to develop a well-researched and informative series of lessons at each grade level. A key feature of these lessons is the focus on how individuals, such as individuals with Autism, ADHD, mobility challenges, mental health needs, etc., are able to harness strategies and supports to access academics and social situations effectively, and how despite apparent differences, we all can be and want to be included.
Human Growth & Development Unit Redesigned
The District will be hosting a public viewing of our redesigned 5th grade Human Growth and Development unit on February 3, 2022 in our Board Room at the District Office. If you are interested in viewing the components of this newly developed unit, the materials will be available for public view from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
