Early life
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12,1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky in a log cabin. He moved to Indiana when he was eight years old. His mom and dad's names are Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln's mom died when he was only ten. After his mom died, his sister Sarah took care of him. He didn’t go to school so he had to learn on his own. He also loved to read. When he was little, he had to work on the farm.
when he got married
He married Mary Todd on November 4,1842 in Springfield, Illinois. They had had four sons named Robert, Edward, William, and Thomas. Robert was the only one to survive as an adult. Lincoln was skilled with an ax. He worked on building railroads after moving to Illinois. he also took a job of delivering goods to New Orleans on a float boat.

Lincoln became a successful lawyer in Springfield and served in the Illinois legislature and in the U. S. House of Representatives. Lincoln helped form the republican party. During his 1858 campaign, slavery was a really bad issue. In 1860 he was elected as the President of the United States. The Civil War broke out between the northern and southern states. Lincoln freed the slaves in the southern states. He was a good speaker.
