Counseling Corner

Character trait

This month we will be focusing on COURAGE.

I will be talking with students about different kinds of courage; everyday kinds and awesome knids of courage.

COURAGE is having the determination to do the right thing even when others don't.

Classroom Counseling Lessons

3rd Grade will be reading a book called Courage by Bernard Waber and writing what courage means and an example of having courage.

4th Grade will be talking about times when it takes courage to walk away, to ignore someone, to talk it out with someone or to seek help.

5th Grade is reading a poem by Maya Angelou "Life doesn't frighten me at all." They will be talking about what it means to have courage, that you must face your fears. They have also being writing some terrific poetry about courage (I'll send it out when everyone is finished).

Here's a link for the work in progress of our poem.

I've outlined lessons for the second half of this month, but if you have something you have been working on in your classroom that would go along with COURAGE, please let me know and maybe we could collaborate on it!

Small Groups

I am getting ready to start some small groups.

Please let me know if you have any students that you would like to see me work with and I will try to get groups going.

I have LOTS of areas we can cover :)

And please, if you have any comments, concerns or ideas, come talk to me, or shoot me an email. I'd love to hear how I can help you as teachers/staff more!
