Ways to help with letter fluency at home
We have learned all of our letter names and sounds and are working on building words and letter fluency. By letter fluency I mean knowing letter names and sounds at random very quickly without having to think about them. You can make a game out of it and when your done have them spell words with the letters.
We are also working on digraphs and silent e. Be sure to have them use their reading strategies checklist when they are reading to you. Having them write sentences with sight words is also a great way to practice fluency.
Please read to your child for at least 20 minutes each day this is the single most important thing you can do to improve reading and vocabulary and it's a great way to spend time together.
These are some great tips on how to help your child
We are working on consonant letter blends, word families and digraphs. Below are some videos.
Practice subtraction at home and counting by 1's, 5's and 10's to 100
Sight Words
Ways to study: make flashcards and have them use a fly swatter to swat the word you say, use words on cards to build sentences, have them practice before bed by hangiing the list on the mirror in the bathroom
