Putting a Mission into Motion
I have spent the past year and a half writing about our core values at the start of the 1-5-20. While that time has been valuable, I feel like I have drifted away from what is most important -- our mission. Our mission is three-fold:
Serve our diverse community
Develop independent thinkers
Excel in an ever-changing world
It is time to get back to the mission and keep this mission at the forefront of my thoughts, and our collective thoughts. I am going to take some time at the start of the 1-5-20 each week to share some thoughts about each of these components. I will pose a question and the start of each week’s thoughts about the mission and leave it with a challenge for the week. I hope that sharing these thoughts will shift our focus to the mission each week and help us to continue to push to put this mission into motion.

If you only have 1 minute this week read this:
Embrace The Obstacles In Your Way
A fire doesn’t just devour obstacles, it uses them. When it encounters something blocking its path, it embraces that thing and builds itself stronger because of it. Without obstacles, a fire can’t grow and advance. It needs obstacles.
So do you.
Obstacles are not to be resented. Challenges are not to be feared. They are opportunities to build you up and accelerate you forward.
Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
