WE'RE ALL LEARNING
STUDENTS:
Penn Elementary is participating in the Global Read Aloud Project October 2nd through November 10th. The project was created by teacher Pernille Ripp in 2010 with a simple goal in mind: one book to connect the world. The premise is simple, but powerful. Each classroom will be sharing the same class read aloud books as classrooms throughout the world, all at the same time. It is a powerful way for kids to discuss and enjoy books with people from all over the world. This year more than 2 million students in more than 25,000 different locations will participate.
The books for this year are:
K-1st grade Mem Fox author study
2nd-3rd grade Fenway and Hattie
4th-5th grade The Wild Robot
6th grade A Long Walk to Water
TEACHERS: Yesterday we spent our Professional Development time working in committees exploring resources and strategies to help all students be successful.. We have two teacher committees: PBIS = Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and MCGF/CC = Multi-cultural Gender Free / Cultural Competency. Each teacher serves on a committee to learn and promote student learning.
KINDNESS is COOL
