Principal Message
Lunch transition
You have seen in our communication over the past few weeks that GRE is transitioning to procedures and events more similar to how they looked prior to COVID. With each shift, we are evaluating the range of comfort as well as the effectiveness of previous procedures. We are taking these opportunities to analyze whether the way we did things previously is the best way to meet the needs of our students.
Lunch is one such example. Beginning, Thursday, April 7th, we will transition to 6 students per table, which is about 3 feet apart. We will remove most of the extra desks and seating so that more students can sit at lunch tables. Our purpose is to continue to foster connections and communication among students. Although, having the students 6 feet apart previously did not significantly hinder communication.
For those students that prefer to remain at a 6 foot distance, there will be lunch tables available. If your child would prefer one of these seats, please complete THIS FORM. This will give us an idea of how many students we will need to accommodate.
Classroom procedures will remain the same and masking will continue to be optional. I’m proud of the students and the culture at GRE. The diverse range of masking comfort has not been an issue and students understand and appreciate the perspectives of others.
If you have any questions about our lunch transition, please let me know.
Thank you,
Pete Kurty, Ed. D
Principal
GRE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Student Profile Form - Due April 1
Please take the time to read the GRE STUDENT PROFILE FORM carefully in its entirety.
This is the time of the year when parents and teachers begin to think about what is ahead for our students in the 2022-2023 school year. The teachers of your child’s present grade level, the guidance counselor, support staff, and the principals will collaborate to form next year’s classes. Please complete this form if you would like to give input into your child’s learning needs. This form is optional.
WHAT TO INCLUDE: Include any pertinent information regarding your child’s LEARNING NEEDS and the characteristics of the kind of CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT that will support her/his success. You may also include any STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS that may positively or negatively affect your child’s learning.
WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE: Please do not request a specific teacher. Due to the complexity of the classroom placement procedure, we will not honor a parent request for a specific teacher. Please do not ask current teachers to comment on the teachers in the next grade level.
Decisions about your child’s classroom placement are made in collaboration with other colleagues and depend upon many social, emotional, and academic considerations. We believe this procedure will create balanced, educationally sound class groups that will ultimately benefit all of our students. The important information you provide will assist the team in determining the best classroom placement for your child. Please DO NOT discuss next year’s placement with your child’s current teacher. Please DO NOT request a specific teacher by name.
This form is due by Friday, April 1, 2022. We will NOT accept any forms after the deadline.
Complete the GRE STUDENT PROFILE FORM HERE.

Volunteering & Background Check Information
As we start to have volunteers in the building and at school events again, it is important to know the volunteer and background check procedures. As a Volunteer, Do I Need to Complete a Background Check?
You WILL NOT need a background check if you:
• Are in the presence of a Dublin City Schools employee while with students
• Volunteer to help with a class party or other one time events
• Sell tickets at a school event (athletics, drama, etc.)
• Volunteer in the office
• Make copies or perform duties/special projects for the school
You WILL need a background check if you:
• Will be working with students while not in the presence of a Dublin City Schools employee
• Volunteer in a classroom, the cafeteria, or on the playground on a recurring basis
• Attend school field trips, band camps, etc.
• Are a volunteer coach
Click HERE to begin the background check process. It only takes 5 minutes. If you have gone through the online BIB Background check process and have received your personalized identification card, we would like you to start wearing it when volunteering at GRE. Please stop by the GRE Office to pick up a badge holder and clip for your volunteer badge and you can wear that instead of a volunteer sticker.
If you have not gone through the background check process, please consider taking a moment to do this at
