cutting funding is cutting help to millions of women and men
Planned Parenthood services
In 2010, the majority of services provided to Planned Parenthood clients were testing, screening, or prevention of diseases. Abortions, the largest concern with opponents, are only 3% of services provided. (see below)
Opponents have nothing to worry about
Abortions make up only 3% of the services Planned Parenthood provides. Regardless, it is illegal for Planned Parenthood to use any federal funding on abortions, so 0% of government funding goes towards abortions.
Planned Parenthood revenue
In 2010, 46% of Planned Parenthood funding came from government aid. If this is cut, Planned Parenthood will lose almost half of its funding, and therefore will be less able to help women and men in need of services. Planned Parenthood expenses
In this pie chart of expenses from 2010, it is clear that no funds are being wrongfully used. So why cut funding? (see below)
Helping women, men, and children all around the world
Planned Parenthood gave $1.6 million in 2009-2010 to partner groups in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America to provide almost one million people with sex education programs and reproductive health services.
Planned Parenthood provides sex education America needs
A study from the Society for Adolescent Medicine Analysis found that over 80% of U.S. Department of Health & Human Services-supported sex education material had wrong or misleading information about reproductive health. Planned Parenthood provides a truthful sex education curriculum without religious bias.
Opposition not as great as it may seem
The main hostility towards Planned Parenthood is from anti-abortion groups. However, a 2011 study from the Public Religion Research Institute found that 56% of people polled thought abortions should be legal in most to all cases.
DANGER: Extreme population growth approaching!
With one opposition of Planned Parenthood being contraception use, it is necessary to warn the public of the projected population growth in years to come. Contraception will be a large aid in controlling this population growth, and Planned Parenthood helps to provides that. (see below)
Planned Parenthood needs government funds
With $487.4 million coming from government funding in 2010, Planned Parenthood was able to help fund $859.8 million in domestic programs. Without that financial help, millions of families would not have received the assistance they did from Planned Parenthood.
