NRHS UPDATE
November 13, 2020
Message from Principal Cullinane
Dear Nashoba Students and Families –
Quarter 2 is off to a great start! We hope everybody had a good shortened week. Please read through the newsletter below. Next week we plan to send a survey about hybrid and remote options. We look forward to hearing from our community!
Have a great weekend!
In-School Bio Lab Field Trip Opportunity for Sophomores! - 11/18
Sophomores will have the opportunity to sign up using the Google Form linked here (must be logged into mynrsd.com email) to come on-campus for a Biology Lab and a community building activity on November 18th. Registrations are on a first-come, first serve basis. Registration will close at Noon on Monday 11/16/20.
The event will be run in two different sessions:
Session #1 - 8:30 to 10:45
Session #2 - 12 to 2:15
Students will arrive via the main office and will be registered by a staff member. Once registered, the students will be directed to their first classroom. After the first class, they will be directed to their second for the remainder of the session. Once the session is completed, students will be picked up via the main entrance of the high school.
The academic opportunities are NOT mandatory and will act as an enrichment to the current remote learning model. ALL sophomore classes will be asynchronous on this day to avoid missing ANY live instruction for the event.
If you have any questions, please email Mr. Biggs (MBiggs@nrsd.net)
We are looking forward to a great day!
School Pictures November 19 & 20
We have developed a plan to have all students (with the exception of seniors) have their 2020-2021 School Pictures taken. This will allow students not to miss any instructional time and provide students the opportunity to get their school pictures taken by appointment. It is important that every member of the NRHS community get an updated picture taken for their school ID as well as our school information system, PowerSchool. These photos will also be used for the 2020-2021 Yearbook.
If you have not done so already, please use the link below to sign students up for an appointment on either Thursday, November 19th or Friday, November 20th from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
When signing up for an appointment, please choose either Lower Gym or Auditorium Foyer. There are 10 openings every 15 minutes for each location. If the time you are looking for is not available in one location, please go back and try the other.

We have protocols in place to ensure students can safely have their pictures taken. We expect it will take approximately 10 minutes or less. Our school photography provider, Lifetouch, has set up a system that is completely touch-free.
When students arrive, they will enter either at the Gym door or the Auditorium door, depending on which location was chosen while making the appointment, and then proceed to the check-in desk. Students will then be directed to a photographer.
Students will be required to wear their facemask or face covering the entire time and will only remove their facemask when told to by the photographer to take their picture. They will need to put their facemask back on immediately after their picture is taken.
Information about ordering prints or digital images can be found by following this link to Lifetouch.
From the Nurse's Office
Hello Nashoba Families and Students,
I hope this finds you and your family healthy and well. I think it's safe to say that many people have been experiencing a higher level of stress than usual recently, due to a multitude of factors. Please continue to practice self care for stress reduction and your overall wellbeing. Reach out to a counselor when you need to. Call your primary care provider to discuss health concerns. Call 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) if you need to talk to someone immediately about a serious mental health concern. Help is available 24 hrs a day.
Studies have shown that practicing gratitude can increase happiness and decrease symptoms of depression, among other health benefits. Try writing a letter of gratitude, going for a walk and taking pictures of things you are grateful for, or starting a gratitude journal or gratitude jar for your family. Find other fun ideas on ways to make practicing gratitude part of your day here:

Today is also World Kindness Day. Make kindness the norm! Spread joy and positivity with Random Acts of Kindness! Studies have shown that practicing small acts of kindness can boost serotonin and increase joy and happiness in the giver. There are endless ways to spread kindness and joy, but if you need more ideas, look here:

Enjoy a wonderful weekend filled with random acts of kindness! Be safe and be well!

From the Nutrition Department
Hello Families,
The Nutrition Team would like to send you an update on our Grab and Go meal pickup.
WE HAVE MOVED (a little)
We are now handing out lunches out of the auditorium doors at the High School. Families will still drive in on the right side of the school, but will now loop around, rather than driving behind the school. New signs will be in place to direct you.
We will still be serving Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 11:30-1 and 2:30-4 pm. Your children don't need to be with you, and we still do not require any identifying information to pick up meals.
Follow us on Twitter @NRSD_Nutrition for any updates!
As a reminder, we now have a Grab and Go menu posted on our website here.
We hope to see you today in the snow, please drive safely and have a fun & safe Halloween!
