Change is in the Air
For those that will be 3rd graders with me next year, it will be the final year with me as my room typically stops at 2nd or 3rd grade.
ESY: Summer School
As of right now, 7 of my 8 students are signed up for ESY so it's sure to be a great summer! Each summer we study thematically and this summer will be a new theme for us of Under the Sea. We will be learning about a variety of ocean animals and learning about the habitat of the ocean. Our art and reading will all be connected to this theme. In math we typically review skills learned from the previous grade level, however this summer future 3rd graders will be working on Times Tables the Fun Way to prepare them for the next year. While we do work on academics, our primary focus is not regressing in our behavior and social skills we have learned.
For those that are new to ESY, it is a much more relaxed time then during the school year. We work as a program (either 2 or 3 classes of us) and we do some type of field trip activity each week. Sometimes that will look like water play at school and sometimes we will be leaving campus. We try to plan these all up front and send home all our permission slips at one time.
ESY Hours are 8-12 with only breakfast being served. We ask that students pack a lunch or a large number of snacks as they are hungry by 11/11:30 and we build in time to eat into our schedule.
Well this turned into more than a few words, but I hope you found this helpful! Please reach out to me with any questions!
