Magic in the Middle, 10/25/20

Dear Arcola Families,

I know that there are many heavy decisions that you are about to make as a family. I can appreciate and understand how difficult this is on you and your children having just doing the same for my own children. Please know that whatever decision you make we will honor and respect it as well as do all we can to continue to educate your child as best we can. None of this is easy and I will work with the staff to see that we provide you all with the love and support you need to see you through. Ultimately this is about a much larger life lesson for all of us and not one that came with instructions so are working it out as we move through it together. I do not know all of the answers but will promise you that we will work each day to stay positive and be there! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.

I wish you all safety, peace and health above all. One day at a time, #Arcolastrong!

Thank you for your support and trust,

Dr. M

Hello Parents and Guardians. This coming week we get ready to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. After his death, people started wearing red ribbons to honor Kiki’s sacrifice.

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated annually October 23-31 and is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program in the nation and is a way for people and communities to take a visible stance against drugs. This awareness program works alongside student councils and school boards to review policies and advocate for drug-and alcohol-free school grounds and sporting events.

Finally, look for the special attachment below that is full of ideas and tips on how to support your middle school student. We hope you enjoy reading it!

Please make sure that if you are coming back to school for on premise/hybrid instruction that your child has a district issued Chromebook. You can make arrangements to pick-up at Farina.
