Attention Poets!
Murray Middle School is hosting a Poetry Slam for you to show off your work!
What is a poetry slam? A poetry slam is an event in which poets perform original work or perform a dramatic reading of a poem in front of an audience.
What to do to participate:
Fill out the form for entry (linked below)
Print/write a hard copy of your poem.
Give both (form and hard copy of poem) to your home base teacher by April 2nd.
This is your chance to express yourself through poetry.
Options for your writing:
1. Write a poem of your own
2. Perform a dramatic reading of one of your favorite poems
3. Go through the prompts (linked below) to find something that inspires you to write
The finalists will perform at the poetry slam on April 9th!

Ground Rules And Expectations
- Speak with inflection- When students are performing, they are expected to speak clearly and with inflection.
- Be respectful to the performer- Make sure you are listening
- Be prepared- Turn in your poem by the due date and practice your performance ahead of time
