Superintendent Community Update

March 26, 2021
Dear JUHSD Community,
We continue to receive inspiring news about the decline of COVID-19 cases throughout San Mateo County. I am optimistic about bringing staff, and eventually students, back to campuses for in-person instruction, and continue to be thankful for patience and support of our community. On that note, here are a few updates:
All staff are returning to campuses by March 29, 2021, and many have already returned. It has been wonderful to see teachers and other colleagues as they return to sites. We continue to work with our union and administrators to finalize dates for a return to campus for students who wish to attend school in person. The information you provided about which instructional model your student will choose is a very important data point we will use in determining how students return. You can stay up-to-date on our COVID-19 website, and by checking out our new Return to Campus Dashboard, located here.
COVID-19 Vaccinations: We are proud to report that all staff have been offered a vaccination. San Mateo County and the State of California continue to open up vaccines to additional groups. Please consider being vaccinated, and register at myturn.ca.gov to receive an alert when you are eligible.
Suicide Prevention 101 for Parents: This free webinar will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide, how to have a conversation with their child, actions to take if their child is having a suicidal thoughts, and resources. The webinar is provided in partnership with CalMHSA, the California Department of Education, the Directing Change Program, and Teen Line. April 7, 2021 at 5 to 6 p.m. Click here to register.
Social Emotional Supports: We are proud to offer a variety of social emotional supports to students and their families. Please take a moment to check out all of the resources available on our Wellness Website.
In closing, I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, and find plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
Warmly,
Toni Presta
Superintendent
