Science - Mrs. Sexton
We are off to a great start in our Ecology Unit. Students will be reviewing food chains, webs, and energy pyramids this week. We will also be reviewing carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, producers and consumers. The new terminology will include carrying capacity and limiting factors. Students my be tested at the end of the week or the middle of the following week.
Math - Mr. Smith
Social Studies - Mr. Creswell
Students will be learning about mercantilism and capitalism as it applies to colonies established by various European countries. We will have a test on Friday about these topics.
DID YOU KNOW?
The French attempted to establish a colony in South Carolina in 1562, but failed. The Spanish made two attempts to establish colonies in SC in 1521 and 1566. Both of their attempts also failed. These sites are located at present day Parris Island Marine Corp Recruiting Depot. I took these pictures a couple of years ago when I visited the site of Santa Elena
Drama- Mrs. Keenan
ELA - Mrs. Templeton
The students are reading The Cay, and learning about types of characters and conflict. They will have a terms test in the near future.
Summer reading projects due Wednesday
We have been working on sentences in grammar.
Stems will begin next week.
Strings - Ms. Lindler
Rotation: We will have our first playing test on Friday, Sepetember 7th. We will continue working on note reading next week.

7th Grade ELA
Students will continue their study of fiction writers. They are learning how to use punctuation and to more effectively express themselves in narrative writing.
7th Grade SS
Students will create a study guide and have a test on European exploration, We will begin a study on limited and unlimited governments in Europe.
