Ripon Cathedral School Update

A Warm Welcome From Our Spanish Friends

Big picture

Year 6 have an exciting week in Spain

This week ten children from year six visited our partner school in Segovia. As well as experiencing life in a Spanish school the children took part in a range of activities including visits to the royal palace, a glass factory and parliament building. The children received a very warm welcome by the whole community in Segovia. We are looking forward to returning that warm welcome next week when we welcome children and teachers from our partner school as they visit Ripon.

Summer Smash Up

Big picture
We would like to say well done to all of our children who took part in the School's Out Summer Smash Up last Saturday. The children performed in a range of dances and were excellent! They represented our school incredibly well both on and off stage. Thank you Sam for doing an excellent job with School's Out after school club. We must also give Lillie Ross an extra special mention- as she won 'School's Out Has Got Talent' this year and performed solo in front of a full house.

Fairburn Ings

This week the year 2 children visited Fairburn Ings, RSPB Nature Reserve. They took part in two workshops. They were amazed by what they found when pond dipping, from tadpoles to dragonfly nymphs. They even found some sanguivores (look it up if you don't know) . They also learned about the lifecycle and habitats of birds - not only did they build their own nest but someone even laid an egg!

For the high jump

This week Mr Biggs had the children working on their high jump technique. They loved challenging themselves and were surprised with what they could achieve.

Holiday Club Success

Oscar's was open for business on the Thursday and Friday of the half term holidays and we were delighted to welcome around 30 children both days. They were all really well behaved; it was particularly lovely to see the older children encouraging the younger ones during the mini sporting competitions. We had an amazing bouncy assault course on Thursday and on Friday certificates and trophies were awarded. Huge thanks to Miss Dumbreck and Mrs Armstrong for being such enthusiastic leaders (and to Mrs Rich for enjoying doing her bit during the lunch breaks too)! Plans are already underway to make sure the first two weeks of the summer holidays can offer lots of exciting activities too - watch this space!

Updated Privacy Notice and Data Consent Form

We are busy ensuring that we are compliant with the new GDPR (data regulations) and have published new privacy notices accordingly. The pupil notice was emailed home this week and is also on the school website. In addition, we sent home a consent form for various data sharing activities. With apologies that it covers some information you have already provided, the fact remains that we still need this form back as soon as possible please. Many thanks, especially to the many parents who have already returned the form.
