Cabinet Meeting

Cabinet Members - Due to a number of conflicts on Tuesday the 27th we are moving the Cabinet, Safety and Admin Team meetings to Monday the 26th.

Here is the schedule:

9:00 Cabinet Meeting

9:45 Safety Committee Meeting

10:15 Admin Team Meeting

In order not to leave our buildings completely unattended (as we do for Admin Team), I would ask Assistant Principals to stay in their buildings and get the information from their Principals (unless their participation is pre-approved by me).

We will be working on the agenda. If you have items please get them to me ASAP.

Thanks - Ken

Please check to make sure every classroom has an American Flag and report at the Cabinet meeting.

Curriculum Board Work Session

The October Board Work Session will be centered on curriculum. This is a discussion about curriculum currently being used, the definition of curriculum, and the future of curriculum. We realize there is a need for curriculum, but this meet will not focus on how out of date our curriculum is, and wanting to purchase curriculum. Last year we determined the focus of curriculum allocations would be math, and at the secondary level.

I need the following information--What curriculum, the year it was purchased, etc. The more information I have, the better informed we will be. This needs to be completed by October 5.

Technology Tip

BrightBytes links were sent out yesterday. You have a link for students and parents. Please make all attempts to have the surveys completed. Teachers were sent an email with the link to the teacher survey. Remind teachers to complete the survey.

Old Laptops

Your technology stipend is responsible for collecting old Dell staff laptops. We are not allowing teachers to keep two laptops. September 30 is the turn in date, if teachers have not already turned them. This date was set in May when Mac laptops were handed out, so we will not be granting any extensions. Please check with your technology stipend to see if they need any support with this task.

Technology Integration training

Technology integration specialists have the responsibility of training your staff on the use of technology in the classroom. We need to be very direct in these efforts. Please work with your integration specialist to identify times/methods for providing training. In August/September they should have trained on using a learner management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, of SeeSaw). This training should be how to use the program and application in the classroom. It should not be just telling teachers about them.

In October, the will be training on assessment platforms. This would be programs that teachers can use to do formative assessments in the classroom. Your integration specialists fill out an accountability report with me so I know the training is happening.

If you have any questions please ask your integration specialist or Ashley.

Mileposts Training

Lexie Domaradski will be coming to our district to provide training on using data in the RTI process on October 5th. This meeting is for the district RTI team and all building RTI leaders (those who receive a leadership premium) and SSIP team members. The secondary teams will meet in the morning from 8:30 -11:30 and elementary teams will meet in the afternoon from 12:30-3:30 at DSC. We welcome administrators, instructional coaches and any other staff members interested in attending.

For your Information...

Reaching out to invite you and Minidoka County Joint School District's staff and parents to attend a screening of 'Paper Tigers.' This film follows a year in the life of an alternative high school that has radically changed its approach to disciplining its students and in the process has become a promising model for how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disease that affect families.

We will be screening the film for free, with complimentary refreshments and hosting a panel discussion four times this fall:

  • Nampa, ID: Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. MDT
  • Moscow, ID: Thursday, Sept. 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. PDT
  • Idaho Falls, ID: Thursday, Oct. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m. MDT
  • Boise, ID: Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m. MDT

Next spring, we will be hosting screenings of the follow-up documentary 'Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope' in various locations around the state.

Hope that you will see the value in this film and share with your staff. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
