Suggestions for Talking To Your Little One About School
Be ready to smile and give attention when you see your child after school. He or she has had a long day and it is nice to be welcomed home by a loving face. Please avoid letting the first thing you ask be what color they were on, or if they got in trouble today. Instead, try asking:
What was the best part of your day?
Was there anything difficult, hard, or challenging about your day?
Who did you play with today?
What did you read about today?
Was there anything funny that happened today?
If your child did happen to have had a difficult day at school:
Try to understand the teacher is trying their best to support your child. It is best for your child if you and the teacher work as a team. Remember, school is really hard work. Instead of getting angry about your child’s behavior, help him or her find ways to handle frustrating situations in a constructive manner. Lastly, don’t blame yourself or get angry with yourself either. New situations arise every day and it will be worth it if we can learn from them and help our child learn from them too.
Here's to a successful school year.

Attendance
Sanger ISD Attendance Guidelines
Excused Extended Absences
A medical certification from an attending physician, healthcare provider or clinic is required for any student absences extending beyond three (3) school days. The medical certifications must be provided to the school within three (3) days of the student’s return to be documented as an excused absence. Documentation provided after three (3) days will be marked unexcused.
Excused Intermittent Absences
Sanger ISD understands a student may miss school from time to time. Therefore, a parent may write an excuse for an absence (a maximum of 9 parent notes for the school year). Again, the note must been received by the campus within three (3) days of the student returning to school. However, if a student misses more than three (3) days during any four-week period (consecutive or intermittent), medical certification from the attending physician, healthcare provider or clinic must be provided for the fourth absence and beyond for the absences to be marked as excused.
Additionally, if a student has established a questionable pattern of absences, the principal or attendance committee may require that a student present a physician’s or clinic’s statement of illness after a single day’s absence as a condition of classifying the absence as one for which there are extenuating circumstances. FEC(Local)
Tardies
After more than three (3) tardies during any four-week period (consecutive or intermittent), each tardy will be marked as unexcused.
Filing for Truancy
At the 10th unexcused absence within a six (6) month time period, the school will file truancy charges with the courts against the student and/or parent.
For additional information or to discuss extenuating circumstances, please contact your campus administration. Thank you for your cooperation as together we serve the students of Sanger ISD.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Parents, thank you for a great first few weeks of school. We want to remind you of a few things. First, using the school issued car tags when you are picking up your student in the car or "parent walk up" is a must. If you do not have this tag, you will need to come to the office with your state issued ID to check your child out. We will give you a release pass to use as a temporary tag to pick up your student that day. Second, breakfast is served from 7:20 until 7:45. Your child must be in line before 7:45 to receive breakfast at school. Third, bell to bell attendance is our goal. Please try to schedule medical appointments as late in the day as possible. Several late arrivals or early check outs can quickly add up and result in lost instructional minutes.
Thank you for sending us your precious little ones every day! It is a fun privilege to see them grow and learn.
