Toll Gate Middle School Kindness Challenge - February is Kindness month
TGMS Families:
During the month of February, we would like to put our focus on others by spreading kindness throughout the Pickerington Community. Each week will be a different focus.
February 1-9 TGMS Community Outreach
Each student will bring home a “calling card”. Choose who will receive your kindness to and then decide on a kind deed or act to perform for them. Leave our “calling card” and take a picture on site. Email your picture to Mrs. Saksa (kelli_saksa@plsd.us) or post it on Facebook or Twitter using #tgmsChampions. Be sure to @TollGateMiddle and @KauffeldMichael. Below are some ideas.
The best thing about kindness is that it does not need to cost anything! No act of kindness is too small :)
Be a friend to a lonely neighbor. Celebrate important days with those you love. Connect with a conversation. Visit the nearest little library and donate a book. Be a good listener. Create positive bookmarks and hide at your local library.
Share your favorite book with someone. Be kind to your server. Shovel your neighbor’s driveway. Clean your room without being asked.
February 12-16 TGMS Food Drive for Pickerington Food Pantry
Most Needed: Condiments, Tomato Paste/Sauce/Diced, Bone Broth, Canned Meat, Cereal/Breakfast Items, and Peanut Butter
Students can place items in boxes in front of our Media Center.
February 19-23 Sock Collection for the Homeless
Socks are the number one need for homeless shelters. We are asking students to donate a package of new socks (any size) if they are able.
February 26-29 Kindness Deliveries
For February Classroom Guidance, students will be participating in kindness activities for various groups they have chosen to be important to them. Thanks to our PTO, we will be creating items for the following:
Community Helpers (thank-you cards for fire, sheriff and police) Special needs friends (sensory hearts)
Pickerington Library (kindness bookmarks) Homeless (socks) Staff (Clothespin Kindness)
Our new preschool friends (pocket hearts for when they miss home) Local Businesses (decorate coffee holders)
Community Parks (kindness stones to place in landscaping) Animal Shelters (DIY pet toys)
Local Seniors (valentine cards for Storypoint residents) Pickerington Food Pantry (canned goods)
Other activities include: Compliment Cards, Multicultural Snowflakes, Diversity Yarn Heart and more!!
Connect as a family as you show others you care!
TGMS Level Up Challenge
Feb. 5th starts our buildings level up challenge. Students will be competing in groups to see who has the highest percentage of meeting their weekly goals of lessons among their team. Please encourage students to make sure that they are meeting their normal i-Ready requirements, in both subjects, to help their group win a pizza party!
