Holiday Blessings
We have officially entered the holiday season. From the end of October through January the calendar is full of celebrations from different traditions - Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa, to name a few. A common theme during this season is expressing gratitude for our many blessings.
At MSA our community takes time to demonstrate this thankfulness with our annual communal meal and Thanksgiving Blessing ceremony just before Thanksgiving break. As we acknowledge our many blessings, we also take time to share our blessings with others.
There are many opportunities for our MSA community members to be a blessing to the larger Anderson community:
Pennies for People - donated to Safe Harbor
Food Drive - donated to AIM Food Pantry
Toiletries, Personal Hygiene Items - donated to Clean Start
Share the Warmth (hats, scarves & gloves) - donated to AIM Women and Children Succeeding
Thank you for joining us in fostering this “spirit of giving back.” It is our hope that whatever charity you choose to support that it will be a meaningful experience for the whole family!

11/11 Veteran's Day Flag Ceremony
It is our custom to hold a weekly flag ceremony on Mondays for grades 1 -12 that includes a Pledge of Allegiance, a Peace Pledge, an inspirational quote, a moment of silence, and the offering of blessings. This coming Monday, we invite you to a special flag ceremony in honor of Veteran’s Day. Please join us at 12:15 to honor our veterans.
The Anderson County Fire Department Honor Guard will present the colors and perform a flag folding ceremony. In addition, our MSA orchestra will also be playing the National Anthem.
We are also making families aware of another opportunity through Operation Shoebox to acknowledge the sacrifices that our service men and women have made. Operation Shoebox collects leftover Halloween candy and sends it to troops in care packages. Those families who would like to participate are being asked to send the candy in on Monday, Nov. 11. It will be collected at the special Veteran’s Day flag ceremony. We will accept donations through Wednesday, Nov. 13.
MSA Family Nights
Getting together as a community is always such a fun time for our children! Just like the recent Fall Fest, MSA would like to provide more opportunities for our students and families to enjoy time together outside of school. We hope to offer at least one date a month moving forward.
Our first MSA Family Night is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Carson’s Steak Warehouse. It is located at 150 W Beltline Blvd, Anderson, SC 29625. Carson’s has graciously agreed to donate 10% of the sales that night back to MSA. Just mention that you are with MSA when you come in. We will have a room to ourselves!
We also have plans for an MSA Family Night on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Holiday Ice in Carolina Wren Park. Holiday Ice is a synthetic ice skating rink in downtown Anderson. Cost per person is $5.00. Whether you choose to ice skate or just enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and good company, this is a fun way to head into the winter break!
Partnership with GAMAC
MSA is excited to announce that we are partnering with the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium (GAMAC) to promote a new initiative that will encourage attendance across all ages, and particularly of families, at the Anderson Symphony Orchestra series. The first ASO concert, “Beethoven @ 250,” is Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3:00 PM. Montessori’s “Mini Maestros” program will provide a more interactive experience for the younger audience (3-8). There will also be a special takeaway in honor of Beethoven’s 250th birthday!
More information about upcoming ASO concerts and Montessori’s “Mini Maestros” program will be provided in future Montessori Matters.
