Smart Goals
Academic
M-By the end of this semester I want to achieve a mid-high 70% in academic math. To achieve this goal I will have to keep track and monitor my progress on how well or how bad I am doing. To keep track I will be sure to ask my teacher about my updated mark every unit so I know were I am. If my teacher happens to not have an updated mark I will ask her were she thinks I am at, if I am improving or am I doing worse. To keep myself organised I will keep track on the days I do my homework and study, all on a calendar. I will also keep track by looking at my test and assignment marks to see if I am improving or if I need help.
A- To achieve my goal I will have to take action! First I will need to know my strengths and weaknesses are in math. My strengths are doing tests, quizzes, equations, homework, and learning lessons. I could utilize these strengths to my advantage by doing my homework. Doing homework is like practice, and you know what they say, practice makes perfect. This will help me on my tests so that I know how to solve all the problems the right way. Tests and quizzes are my strengths because I do not panic and I stay calm, this helps me to complete every problem and equation on the tests or quizzes, I usually do not leave anything blank. I could use learning lessons to my advantage because when my teacher does a lesson I understand every single step she does. I can use this to practice for my tests, because I understand the lesson I can perfect the way I solve each problem or equation by doing textbook questions on that specific lesson. Also to achieve my goal I will also ask my teacher for help when I need it and not just sit around doing nothing so I do not get behind in the lessons.
R- To get a mid-high 70 by the end of grade 10 in academic math is a doable goal for me. I can achieve this goal because I have already bumped my mark up since midterms. I have asked my teacher since the last unit test if my mark was going up and she said it was going up by a lot. If I can get a 90 or above on the next unit test and the exam I will be able to achieve my goal. This goal is important because I have a really low mark in math right now which is a 62% and I want to prove to myself that I can do better math if I try.
T- I have a total of a -1-2 months to achieve my goal, from the beginning of May to the end of June. To achieve my goal I will have to set smaller goals to get there which are getting 90's or above on all tests, quizzes and the final exam, doing all my homework on time every single day, and studying for all of my tests and the final exam.
Volunteering
M- To achieve my goal I will have to keep track of the amount of hours that I collected throughout the years. some ways that I can keep track of my goal is by asking the people that I volunteer for to tell me the amount of hours I have in total at the end of each month so that I know how many more hours I need to reach my goal of 400 hours. I can also keep track of my hours by making a scheduled that tracks what date I came in to do my hours and how many hours I did that specific day, this will help tell me how close or how far I am from reaching my goal.
A- To complete my goal of getting 400 or more hours I will have to take action. My strengths are managing my time and organization. I will not receive hours by just sitting at home, first I will have to go out and find a place that will hire me for volunteer work. I can go to a local temple or volunteer at the elections. Second I will have to sacrifice most to all of my free time to get the hours needed to achieve my goal. I will have to be organized and to do that I will make a scheduled and write the date and the amount of hours I did that day. I will need to plan out my days so that I would have at least done 1-2 hours a daily.
R- The goal of receiving 400 or more hours by the end of grade 12 is very much achievable. This goal is realistic because to get 400 hours I will have a total of 4 years to achieve this goal, which means I will need to get 100 hours each year. There are 365 days in a year and I only need 100 hours, so even if I do 1 hour a day I will be able to not only achieve my goal but exceed it as well.
T- The time frame in which I have to complete this goal is 4 years. From the beginning of grade 9-12. I have already received 80 so far so I am almost a quarter of the way there to achieve my goal. To achieve my goal I will have to complete smaller goals along the way. Those goals are getting at least getting a total of 100 hours a year and taking the initiative to make up for the hour that I have missed.
