Special Education Extended School Year (Summer 2023) information
In October, an Extended School Year (ESY) Format Preference Survey was sent to all Special Education staff members and parents of students who qualify for ESY. Five format options were presented and survey participants were asked to indicate their preferences and availability to participate. Responses that were identified as first or second choice were tabulated. Of the parents who responded (102 parents in total), there was no overwhelming preference for any of the date options (June 12 to July 20; June 7 to July 6; or June 5 to June 29). The majority of the staff (179 staff respondents),however, indicated a preference for the ESY program to be held from June 5 to June 29. Student and staff availability were consistent with the preferences identified for each option.
In order to accommodate both the parents' and staff's preferences and availability, the 2023 ESY program will be held from June 5th through June 29th for 4.5 hours/day for four days per week, Early Childhood will be 3 hours/day. More information will be provided after the Winter Break regarding start/end times and locations.
