Progress Reports
Normally, every two and a half weeks, CES students receive a Progress Report. Just like a Grade Report, the Progress Report shows student grades up to that point in time. Traditionally, we skip the first Progress Report because much of the beginning of school is about the teaching and practicing of routines and procedures. Many tests are taken, but these aren’t the kinds of tests we put in the grade book. These are tests to measure the student’s knowledge now, at the beginning of the year. Student scores from these tests are used for teacher information and will be compared to scores on similar tests throughout the year. The first report of progress will be at mid-term. Students will be sent home with the Mid-Term Report on Thursday, September 24.
Home Portal Available
Technology provides us with great tools to help our students. One of those tools is Home Portal. The Home Portal allows parents access to their students’ grade, attendance and discipline information via the internet. For those of you that have had access in the past, your username and password have not changed. If you would like access or need other assistance, simply contact Mr. Beydler via email.
First Friday Hat Day
The CES PTO is again sponsoring First Friday Hat Days. On the first Friday of each month, students and staff may wear their favorite hat at school for a $1 donation to the PTO.
Reading for Donuts
Area first and second grade students can get a free donut just for reading! On Saturdays in September, students can bring their books to The Simple Life in Concordia from 8:00 am until 10:00 am and read to Beth and get a free donut. The Simple Life restaurant is located at 808 South Gordon in Concordia. It is right next to the Concordia Community Center. Thanks to the Simple Life for their contribution to literacy in our school!

Those students interested in the Science Fair will practice on these Monday afternoons after school until 4:30: September 14, September 21, October 5, October 19, and November 2. Those students interested in the Science Events will practice on these Wednesday nights after school until 4:30: September 2, September 30, October 14, October 28, and November 11. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2 from 3:30 to 4:30. At this meeting we will work with the students on their Science events for family night.
