What Have We Been Learning About??
Math
Chapter 6
The kid have been learning how to solve expressions using the Order of Operations (PEMDAS - Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally). They created their own EERIE Expressions for Halloween and were able to show and explain the steps they took in order to solve the problem in the correct order. They have also been writing expressions/equations from words or a story and turning stories and words into expressions/equations using numbers and variables. Wow! They are pretty impressive! We will finish up Chapter 6 this week with creating a rule for a function table. They will take their Chapter 6 test on Wednesday!

Photosynthesis:
We began our first Science Unit and studied how plants and animals get energy from the sun (solar energy), water, and carbon dioxide. The kids created their first Mind Map in Science demonstrating their understanding of the process of Photosynthesis, where plants make their own food. We will continue our study of food webs, food chains, and ecosystems in the coming weeks.
