A Message from the Principal
The past few months at Souhegan have been marked by hard work, dedication, and a genuine sense of community. This time of year is a time to reflect on the achievements of the past several months and look forward to the opportunities the new year will bring. I have so enjoyed my first few months as the principal of Souhegan High School and I look forward to our continued journey of learning and growth together in the new year!
Whether you're traveling, spending time with family, or simply enjoying some well-deserved downtime, I hope this winter break brings you joy, relaxation, and memorable moments. As we approach the final day before winter break, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each of you-- students for your commitment to learning and personal growth, families for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children, and faculty and staff for your unwavering dedication to providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Thank you all for being integral to our Souhegan community.
Wishing you a joyous winter break filled with warmth, laughter, and good cheer!

Souhegan Music Department District Tour
The Souhegan Music Department recently completed a tour, performing holiday music for district students grades K-8. On Friday, December 15th, they went from Mont Vernon to Clark to Wilkins. On Monday, December 18th, they performed in the Souhegan theatre for grades 5-8. The choir sang "Carol of the Bells," "Merrily Sing Noel," and "What a Wonderful World." The Band played "Celebrations for Christmas" and "Sleigh Ride." Each performance culminated in and was highlighted by a holiday music singalong where the audiences did not disappoint singing songs like "Jingle Bells" with lots of excitement. The Music students worked hard on this tour and they were phenomenal!

Senior Year Notes
Senior Project
Our next Senior Project Checkpoint will take place very soon after our return from break. Seniors should have shown their mentors a draft of their Applied Piece Proposal letter before they left for vacation. On Monday, January 8, seniors will electronically submit their proposal letter to their mentor and panel in preparation for their panel meeting that will take place after school on Thursday, January 11th.
Although research is not due until March, seniors should have between 4-6 pages of notes that come from 4-6 sources at this point in their project. Seniors should also have a confirmed outside expert with whom they are communicating. Please check in with your senior to see where they are at with their work.
Financial Aid
The newly redesigned Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be available by December 31st. In addition to being a required part of most college’s financial aid process, it is now a graduation requirement in the State of NH that seniors either: a. File a FAFSA or b. Complete a waiver (in the event that a student either does not intend to apply to college or apply for financial aid). To obtain a waiver, students should meet with their school counselor.
Students and Families can get a start on the process by creating an account - which will establish a FAFSA ID. Students and Parents each need their own unique account. To create an account, you will need your social security number and an email and/or phone number (to use for two factor authentication). It can take a couple of days to process, so doing this step now can ensure that everyone is ready to complete the FAFSA as soon as it is available. Follow this link to get started creating a FAFSA ID.
Additional information regarding the process of filing the FAFSA can be found on the Granite Edvance (formerly NHHEAF) website here. Granite Edvance is also available for individualized support for the financial aid process.
