TerraNichol Academy of the Arts
Kindergarten Blog February 18th-22nd, 2019
Our journey and wonder in learning labs this week.
Dear Parents and Students,
Another fabulous and adventurous week is complete! The saying time flies when you are having fun is given true meaning here! Students enjoyed fairy week acting out being fairies in eco-village, watching for fairy butterflies, creating fairy painting and sketches. We will conclude our fairy project next week when we create our wooden clothespin and flower fairies! Students have been eagerly awaiting this project! We hope that many of you take the opportunity to visit the fairy house festival at Spanish Point this weekend!
The sandbox was a busy place of construction and fossil finding! From building sandcastles to a mud kitchen of Valentino treats, to a cement chute to finding dinosaur fossils just about every form of play was demonstrated in the sandboat this week. While immersed in these play experiences students were developing skills completely across the curriculum!
If Edgar Degas was still alive he would have been inspired by our ballerinas this week who took to the stage doing their best ballet positions and dances. We don't think Degas paintbrush could have kept up with them!
With the mornings so beautiful some students have decided that outdoor yoga sounds peaceful and relaxing to them. This week some yogis visited the yoga sanctuary we meditated listening to all of the happy birds chirping away. Then we worked on mindful movement and balance! While other yogis had yoga indoors and discovered their animal spirit! What a great connection with nature!
As the weather begins to warm up again students are seeking water play experiences through the water wall and multiple water sensory provocations set up along the playscape. Please check your child's backpack for clothing that is cool and comfortable if changing is needed. Also please dress your child comfortably for an active day outdoors in warmer temperatures.
Next week we look forward to the volunteers from UF visiting on Monday to replant our Spring Garden. Exploring Michelangelo, making our fairy dolls, and wrapping up all February Projects as March is knocking at our door!
Ciao!

2019 Enrollment
Please be sure that you review your packet and mark enrollment deadlines!
Enrollment for 2019-2020 School Year
Based on many inquiries to the school about new enrollment and new families already securing their space in the program for 2019-2020 school year we will be sending out re-enrollment for our existing students and siblings early in February. Typically we do this in March but because of the volume of interest for next year, we will need to evaluate space in the program for new incoming students. Be on the watch for information coming out to all families in February 2019. This will include our Kindergarten and First Grade program.
Re-enrollment forms and Registration Fee submitted by the deadline will guarantee the student's space for the upcoming school year. If forms and registration fee is not submitted by the deadline we will assume you are forfeiting your space.

$350 per school year purchasing items off our school wish list for learning lab environments.
$350 donation per school year.
$350 spent in the school eco-friendly store per school year.
Donation to the end of the year school play.
If the parent chooses to do both shopping off of Amazon Wish List/School Store and other Volunteer items the total cost percentage would be deducted from the $350 total. Every approximate $30 spent equals 1 volunteer hour.
Example: Parent’s Amazon purchases for learning lab materials = $60 that parent receives 2 volunteer hours. The parent would have 10 volunteer hours left to complete for the school year
