Making the Most...
Good Evening Spartan Families,
We hope you have had a wonderful week and you are gearing up to spend some much needed family time together this Thanksgiving. Whether you are staying local or headed abroad, keeping it small or having a larger celebration, we hope you take time to relax and enjoy.
In the words of Charlie Brown, "What if today, we were just grateful for everything?"
Reminder: School is in session on Monday. Students will have the remainder of the week off. Our Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Monday night (5-8pm) and Tuesday (8-3pm).
There is a ton of new info in today's newsletter, so please take a moment to scroll down and stay connected to all the great things happening in our school community.
Before you jump into weekend mode, we hope that you will take a few minutes to join our District 109 Thought Exchange to engage in the mission and vision discussion to "Define 109." The exchange closes at 5 pm tonight, November 19th.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

SHIELD Testing Update
Due to increased testing volume across Illinois, DPS109 now receives SHIELD results within 48 hours. This slower turnaround time impacts our ability to contact families prior to the next school day with results. We ask for your continued partnership in keeping students healthy and in school. Please complete Daily Health Certifications, and make sure your contact information is current in Family Access to help your nurses/staff efficiently make notifications and contact trace.

Take 5 Minutes To Answer One Big Question... and help Define 109!
Our community ThoughtExchange is open and runs through tonight (11/19) at 5pm! We want to hear from you on this one question: What is the most important skill that students today need to have for them to live fulfilling and meaningful lives? You are allowed to leave as many thoughts as you want and rate as many as you want. It's all anonymous! If you've already participated, log back in and leave or rate new thoughts that have come in!
Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic Registration
There are spots open at the clinics being held by Passport Health at Shepard Middle School starting next week. Due to a number of cancellations, please feel free to share the below link with families that do NOT have a DPS 109 student. The last thing we want are unused spots! Please note these clinics are ONLY for 5-11 year olds. Click here to sign up your child.
