Oak Ridge Family Focus
September 23rd Edition
Weekly Update
Highlights from last week:
- 2nd grade used real world information to create bar graphs in math and examined complex questions involving the data. Interesting findings!
- 3rd grade used multiple strategies in math to subtract multi-digit numbers. They made connections between different strategies and talked about their similarities and differences. Great job!
- 4th grade worked on recording book talks in their own personal desk studio. They also discussed acid rain in science and examined how it affects various types of rocks. How cool!
- 5th grade worked hard and did their best on their informational assessments. They are continuing to improve their vocabulary in their writing pieces in class. Keep it up!
Tip of the Week:
- Students ages 2 through 6 years old are encouraged to download the app Khan Academy for Kids. Students can play games and interact with characters to develop important reading and number sense skills.
We are halfway through our first quarter of the school year. Time flies! Progress reports were sent home Friday to show how your child is doing at school. If you have any questions or would like to know how to help your son or daughter at home, please do not hesitate to reach out to his or her teacher. We are here to help!
Have a great week,
Beth Reich, Principal
Kevin Buscemi, Assistant Principal
