Greetings From Your New Librarian!
My name is Pali De Silva. I’m your new science & technology librarian:
I recently joined the Murray State University library (1st of April, 2013). I am very excited about my position and look forward to getting to know all of you and work closely with you to help, support, and enhance your teaching and research programs.
My professional background in brief:
I hold a BS degree in Biology (Botany major and Chemistry minor), a PhD in Plant
Health, and a Masters in Library and information Science (MLIS). Although my previous professional training was in the field of scientific research, because of my deep interest in information science and student learning, I decided to change my career path to academic librarianship.
I have served as a reference & instruction librarian in science & technology at Iowa State University library for nearly 7 years, and served as the subject librarian for 5 academic departments in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
My research interests in the field of academic librarianship include: science information literacy and information needs & information use of academic communities. I have published the findings of my research work in peer reviewed journals.
Please feel free to contact me regarding information resources and library services available to you or about arranging information literacy instruction sessions for your classes or incorporating a library research component into a course you teach.
I look forward to hearing from you.
