TRIED AND TRUE ED TECH
These are all FREE technology tools for you to use in the classroom. Many offer a FREE app for your phone or tablet as well! If you are new to ED TECH, these are where you want to start.
1. EDpuzzle.com empowers teachers to make any video your lesson. Crop a video, explain it with your own voice and embed quizzes at any time.
2. Quizlet.com Study Tools Quizlet's flashcards, tests, and study games make learning fun and engaging for students of all ages.
3. Padlet.com is an Internet application that allows people to express their thoughts on a
common topic easily. It works like an online sheet of paper where people can put any
content (e.g. images, videos, documents, text) anywhere on the page, together with
anyone, from any device. Think of it like a multimedia friendly, free-form, real-time
wiki.
Want to create one of these, see one in action, or learn how to use it in your room? Let's talk!
You Tube Playlists
Create YouTube playlists as student assignments or as recommended extra resources
Some people learn better by watching than reading, so providing video alternatives to the reading homework you assign could really pay off for some students. You can create playlists, either to supplement the other work you assign or as an alternative, and simply send the link to your students for viewing. A playlist puts it all into an easy, well-organized format for their consumption.

TECH TOOLS
For those of you that are more tech savvy, here are some new tools that you may want to check out!
1. Explore.org shares live webcams of animals in their natural habitat from all over the globe for you to watch with students. The children find these fascinating; we watch, we discuss, and then we brainstorm the key words we can use in our writing. It is easy to use, has great images and children are enthralled! It will be a writing favorite.
2. Alphablocks is a great way to make learning the alphabet fun. Children watch as the letters in the alphabet tell stories and make words using phonics. Available to watch free on You Tube, each mini-program lasts five minutes and focuses on a particular letter, word or sound. The children remember the lively letters of the alphabet when it comes to their own reading. For example, when P and H hold hands, they make the sounds "F". I would absolutely recommend it to other younger classrooms.
