Message from Principal Dr. Gideon and Assistant Principal Mr. Cowart
Dear Eisenhower Students and Families,
We have finally completed the first month of September. Last month, we had 900 students return to campus. During the first month, we focused on relationships and engagements. Also, students were able to assess and take the diagnostic assessment to give teachers and the school an idea of where our students stand to gather information to support students. Instruction has started, and I have seen students engaging in complex tasks and are doing their best in their classrooms. Finally, students participate in sports and clubs such as football, cross country, drama, robotics, and more.
Although this isn't perfect, there are many things we can celebrate to start this school year amidst a pandemic. There is a lot of room for improvement as we navigate the uncertainties. But we can continue to encourage and support our students as they build their stamina in school.
Month of October
Our teachers have been working diligently in teams to continue their cycles of instruction within their departments. The diagnostic assessment gave us a baseline of where our students are currently, which helps us plan instructional practices to support our students. Parents continue to encourage students to try their best in all assignments and do a weekly check-in to see how their classes are going. Help students to establish homework and study routines at home, and help them to organize assignments. When I was in middle school, I struggled with these organizational skills, and when I finally learned and established these functioning skills, my academics improved. Teachers have started to input grades online for you to view. Please review the parent tools on the bottom of the newsletter to access student grades.
SBA/WCAS
Parents, we will assess students in Mathematics, English, and Science this month. Below is the assessment Calendar for students. Parents encourage your students to do their best on these assessments. The SBA and WCAS assessment allows us to see where students are for us to support them best. Please encourage the students to try their best and have a good night's rest and breakfast during the testing days.
