Got a Big Test Tomorrow?
Here are some way to improve your memory!
It's true that there is a lot involved in the retrieval process of recalling or recognizing information. We're human. If we don't use the information, we lose it. And sometimes, it's hard to even memorize the information in the first place. But don't worry! There are some tips listed here to help you out.
Are you an auditory learner?
Some people have a better echoic (auditory) memory than others. If you find that you need to hear a piece of information to remember it, try using the maintenance rehearsal method of repeating information aloud to oneself.

Are you a visual learner?
Some people may have a better iconic (visual) memory. Try looking at graphs or charts to help you recognize the information in the future. Also, try rewriting the information several times to make sure it sticks in your long term memory.

- Pay attention in order to adequately move information from your short term memory to your long term memory.
- Plan study session rather than cramming. Believe it or not, your brain can not hold more than a few pieces of information in your short term memory at a time, meaning you need repetition to make the info stick.
- Organize! It will be easier to recall and recognize information. Use methods such as chunking or grouping/categorizing to make the retrieval process easier.
- Mnemonic devices are your best friends! Make association between what you don't know and common ideas or information that you are already familiar with. Come up with a rhyme or song; it might be silly, but it'll help!
- Try using elaboration and rehearsal. Make a connection between the new concept and something from your semantic memory (general knowledge).
