Safety Concerns- Late Start Wednesday
Over the past couple of weeks I have received several phone calls and e-mails regarding our students gathering at Dutch Brothers, the Dollar Stores, and the North Valley Plaza Shopping Center. With a couple of hundred students getting coffee and energy drinks, etc., the traffic on Pillsbury and Cohasset is quite congested, as you may imagine. The real problem is when students are heading to campus they are being a bit more careless when crossing 6 lanes of traffic, and too many of them are trying to beat the light before it changes. It has been told to me that several vehicles have had to stomp on their brakes, as students are crossing wildly.
I am asking for your assistance in reminding your student(s) to please pay attention to the traffic signals, if they are in attendance in that area. What I see happening is they are trying to catch up with their friends who are ahead of them and not paying attention. As a reminder, we have campus supervision, with the cafeteria available, if you so choose to drop your student here rather than at the shopping center. Just a thought.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

PIONEER POETS
The eighth grade English classes have been enjoying a delightful unit on poetry. Students have read famous poets such as Langston Hughes, Walt Wittman, Robert Frost, and Tennyson. After studying the deeper meaning and poetic terms used to craft these poems, students tried writing their own. Following these famous poets as models, Natalie Chavez reflected on Robert Frost’s nature poems for inspiration to pen her work. Her teacher, Mrs. Hansen was very impressed with all of the Pioneer poets!
