MORE INFORMATION:
PRESCHOOL SIGN UP FOR 2019/2020
Complete the Preschool Request Form if you would like your child to be enrolled in preschool for the 2019/2020 school year. Go to the Mat-Su Borough School District website (www.matsuk12.us). It's open now and closes June 30. Your child must be 4 years old by September 1 to enroll.
Preschool eligibility:
Title I, Migrant Education, & Title VI Indian Education support the Federal Programs preschools. Students must be eligible for one of these programs.
- Title I – must live within the physical boundary of a designated Title I school.
- Migrant Education (Title I-C) – currently enrolled in the Migrant Education Program through the Federal Programs Office.
- Title VI (Indian Education) – enrolled member or descendant of an enrolled member of a recognized tribe or tribal group. Documentation is required.
Preschool classes begin August 26, 2019. Completing the "Parent Request Form" is the only pathway to preschool enrollment. Please do not enroll preschool children through the iParent iEnroll process. If your child is selected, a Federal Programs preschool teacher will contact you directly to initiate the preschool enrollment process beginning July 15.
BOUNDARY EXEMPTS
If you live outside the school boundaries and attend Big Lake Elementary, you will need to complete a new Attendance Boundary Exemption Application for next school year. A new boundary exempt is required every year.
The forms are online at www.matsuk12.us/ble on the right side under Site Shortcuts. Complete the form and bring it to the office by April 30.
Questions, call the office at 892.9700. Thank you.
STAKEHOLDER MEETING FOR ESEA
A Stakeholder Meeting for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) will be held on May 3rd in the MSBSD Board Room in Palmer from 9:30-10:30AM. All parents and stakeholders are invited to attend.
NURSE RX
I am now in the process of finalizing health screenings for the year and with this comes referrals. If your child has one of these referrals for either dental, hearing, vision, or immunizations due then I will call and give you a heads up it is coming home.
With allergy season coming on some children need medication for this at school. Please do not send cough drops or any other medication to school with your children. All medication needs to be delivered by an adult. Many children are allergic to medication, even cough drops, thus do not let your children carry medication on their person as children like to share.
Thanks for sharing your children with me this school year. If you have any questions about anything please call 892-9705 or e-mail me at: Nancy.Moore@matsuk12.us
NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 23. Four weeks of school left.

Synergy Student Information System
The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District is migrating to a new student information system (SIS) called Synergy for the 2019-2020 school year. This change in our SIS will better support education for MSBSD students.
Our current system, SchoolMAX (iParent/iStudent), has become static and its functionality will not improve in the future. Our new SIS is responsive and will evolve with the changing needs of K-12 education and of our District. Transitioning to Synergy allows us to create a more user-friendly platform and optimize operating costs while we continue to focus on quality education for all students.
Online registration will begin in early July 2019 and the District will reach out directly to families when registration is open. For additional information, click here, visit www.matsuk12.us/synergy, contact your school’s administration, or contact Reese Everett/Dina Henderson in the Office of Instruction 746-9212.
