Reid Elementary PTO would like to welcome all new and returning students and families back to school. It goes without saying that the year is going to be different than anything we have experienced before. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Jennifer Lang and I am the PTO Secretary. Returning to the board this year:
Carla Meier, President – 7th year on the PTO
Cristeen Heise, Vice President – 6th year on the PTO
Tonya Przybylo, Treasurer – 4th year on the PTO
Jennifer Lang, Secretary – 2nd year on the PTO
I think I can speak for the rest of the board and say that this is going to be a tricky year to navigate. We are going to have to play a lot of things by ear and try to quickly adapt as changes come our way. With that being said, any extra help or support from our parents will be warmly welcomed. 😊
The PTO’s goal has always been to support our school, teachers, and students. We strive for continued parent involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our kids. Through the volunteering and fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to donate funds to help purchase educational materials, equipment, field trips, assemblies and more.
Without the ability to be in school face-to-face, our largest fundraiser of the year has been put on hold as well as many of our supplemental fundraising such as popcorn Fridays, freeze pop days, wacky Wednesdays, etc. Knowing that many families are affected with loss of income, many kids attending the Bobcat Virtual platform instead of remote Reid learning, and with everyone adjusting to it all, we feel that waiting until things calm down will give us a more successful fundraiser if we wait until the spring. Currently, the only incoming money for the school year that we can count on will be from Kroger Rewards, Amazon Smile and Box Tops for Education. Directions on how you can help contribute via those avenues are posted below.
Having to plan a budget using only our existing funds, we had to make some difficult choices. We chose what we believed was most important and beneficial for our students and teachers. Some of the things we are committed to funding are:
- Teachers to spend on their class
- Raz-Kids subscription
- Scholastic News subscription
- Kindergarten Reid t-shirts
- Reid senior scholarship fund
- 5th grade robotics competition
- Movie license
- Field day
We are open to virtual fundraisers and more community reward programs, however in order to do so, we need your help. Ideas and volunteers who can help plan and organize will be essential. Please feel free to reach out to myself or any of our board members if you are interested in contributing. We would love to raise funds to be able to give the kids something fun when we are able to return to in-person school!
