Penn Wood Vision: Highly Effective - Academic Excellence, Personal Growth, Creative Thinking, Service to the Community
From the Principal's Office
Hello Penn Wood Families!
I hope everyone enjoyed the day off yesterday! I can't believe we are only a week away from winter break. Last week we had the privilege of hosting the Penn Wood music concert. The band, orchestra and choir did an awesome job performing to a packed PW gym! Great job to our musicians and to our music team - Ms. Gamber (Band), Mrs. Hill (Orchestra), and Mr. Roman (Choir), for all your efforts in preparing our students! Next week will be a PW Spirit week (see picture below for details) and next Thursday we will have our classroom winter parties. Thank you to the Penn Wood Home and School Association for this morning's breakfast for the staff! Much appreciated:)
Lastly, 5th grade students had a visit today from renowned author and speaker Ric Gillespie. In his 2006 title, Finding Amelia: The True Story of the Earhart Disappearance, Gillespie offers a historical account of the events directly following the aviator's disappearance. Thank you to the 5th grade team for making this happen for our students!
Have a great weekend and happy holidays!
With Penn Wood Pride,
Dr. Mike G. Garvin

5th Grade Student Council:
5th grade student council will be leading a paper recycling program at Penn Wood. Behind Penn Wood is a community dumpster that may be used by Penn Wood residents and the school to recycle paper. I will include a picture below. This is for paper only and we are very excited to reboot this recycling program!
