Sensory Room
We've been learning about our brains and regulating our emotions during our Mindfulness lessons this year. It's fascinating, and we are building a Sensory Room at our school. Curriculum Corner
Reading:
- This week is Week 3 of Unit 4. We are focusing on context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words in our reading. We will also compare and contrast people, places, and things in our stories, and later move on to comparing and contrasting two texts.
- Small-Group Reading...ask your child if they have small group reading homework this week.
Spelling:
- Our spelling pattern this week is variant vowels (au, al, aw, a, ou). Please spend some time helping your child study. Students may also practice by using Spelling City. The link can be found at the bottom of this newsletter. Our word lists can be found under Amber Fleck.
Grammar/Writing:
- We are working with main and helping verbs this week.
In writing, we continue to focus on informative writing. The students are also wrapping up their Me at 100 writings. I love seeing their goals and dreams!
- We are continuing our study of multiplication. Watch for flashcards in your child's binder. Please study these with your child for 10-15 minutes every night. Thanks for your support at home!! Mastering multiplication in third grade is a necessity for students to thrive in the upper grades.
- We will continue studying bar graphs, picture graphs, and line plots.
Science:
- We are testing Physical Science Ch. 3 this week over forces and motion. We will continue with our magnet stations during STEM this week!
- Please use the link later in this newsletter to have your child play the Quizlet to review for the test.
- IF YOUR CHILD ATTENDS THE ELA LEARNING LAB, THEY WILL NOT BE TAKING THIS TEST.
Social Studies:
- We will begin looking at Native American groups that lived in Indiana. Students will complete some fun flip books to organize facts about these tribes!

Kindness Challenge
This year, students at Ireland Elementary will be completing the Kindness Challenge again. We did this challenge a few years ago, and I am positive we can all complete the challenges this year! This week's challenge is...
Leave a thank you note for your mailman!
At the end of each week, students who have completed the Kindness Challenge for that week will get to put a sticker up for that act. Kindness is free...sprinkle that stuff everywhere!
