Senior 21st Century Scholars: Mrs. Pulley will be calling these students to Guidance to make sure they completed their affirmation forms. Affirmation forms must be completed online by March 10th. Scholars should have received information from the 21st Century Scholars Program about this form. Scholars must graduate with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to receive this scholarship.
Scholarship Information: Several local scholarships are offered to college-bound seniors throughout Dubois County. One source of scholarships is the Dubois County Community Foundation. Go to http://www.dccommunityfoundation.org to learn more about these scholarships. Several other local scholarships are also available. A listing of these scholarships will be provided to seniors through their senior English classes via Moodle and will also be available in Guidance. Please pay attention to Moodle and the Daily Announcements for any new scholarship opportunities.
Seniors who plan to attend either Vincennes University or Vincennes University Jasper should complete the scholarship application to be considered for scholarships. The priority deadline was January 15th, but several scholarships will still be available. Scholarship applications are available on Moodle or in Guidance. See Mrs. Pulley with any questions.
Important info for Sophomores
Southridge Choirs
The SHS choirs are off to a great start this semester as we prepare for many events! The musical cast is busy rehearsing for “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and is having fun putting the musical comedy together. The performances will be February 26, 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. Concert Choir is preparing for their trip to and performance in New York City while Girls’ Choir and Mixed Choir are rehearsing for Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Three SHS Choir students were selected to the Indiana All State Choir and will perform with approximately 250 other Indiana choral students in concert on Saturday, January 17 in Fort Wayne. The students were selected through audition in September. This event is held in conjunction with the Indiana Music Educators Association’s annual convention. Best wishes to Ryan Hill, Katie Kendall and Courtney Jones for an excellent experience!
We will host the ISSMA district Vocal/Piano Solo and Ensemble contest at the Southridge complex on Saturday, February 7. Twenty-three area schools will participate in this festival. A HUGE THANK YOU to the choir parents who are working at this contest! Best of luck to all SHS and SMS students who are playing piano solos, singing vocal solos or singing in an ensemble.
