Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Timberwolf Families! We are grateful to have every one of you as part of our learning community. As we move into the new year, MVHS staff and faculty remain committed to supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of every student while striving to provide high-quality opportunities for learning every day.

Statement About this Week's Events

In light of this week's events in Washington D.C. I want to reiterate the sentiment Dr. Doyle shared in the most recent Community Update, condemning the violence that took place. The insurrection we witnessed is yet another challenge that we are navigating in what has already been an incredibly challenging ten months. As adults, it can be difficult to grapple with everything that is going on, and as educators, we are simultaneously trying to help students to wrestle with these issues in real-time. The events of this past week do, however, create opportunities for critical thinking, discussion, and teachable moments in the classroom. As a school, we want to make sure that students have opportunities to engage with current events in a way that is guided by our District values of Trust, Respect, Collaboration, and Equity. As the adults in the (virtual) building, we are committed to these values and the notion of introducing difficult topics and events in an objective, neutral, and unbiased way.

Final Exams Are Around the Corner!

Final exams for the Fall term will take place on Thursday, January 21st & Friday, January 22nd.

We will operate on a minimum day schedule for these days with school "dismissing' at 12:15pm.

  • Thursday, January 21st: Periods 1 & 2
  • Friday, January 22nd: Periods 3 & 4

Finish strong T-Wolves!

Academic Support Opportunities

T-Wolves: We have two weeks until finals, and it's not too late to bring up those grades!

All teachers will make themselves available via Zoom during scheduled class times - including during asynchronous learning opportunities - and all teachers are available every day from 2:30-3:00 to provide additional academic support/tutoring for students who need it. We intentionally built office hours into the normal school day for this specific purpose. Students who need any additional support should reach out directly to their teacher(s) to set an appointment. Take advantage, T-Wolves!

Attention Seniors: Make Sure to Complete the FAFSA!

Reminder for Seniors

Seniors -- If you have not yet done so, be sure to complete the FAFSA or Dream Act application. These programs allow eligible students to apply for financial aid (grants, work-study, and loans) to pay for college or career school.

Our goal is for 100% of the Class of 2021 to complete a FAFSA or Dream Act application so that all students know what access they have to financial support for their post-secondary aspirations.

Support for the Freshman Class of 2024

The transition from middle school to high school is a difficult one under "normal" circumstances, and amidst COVID-19, that transition has proven to be much, much more difficult for many of our freshmen. The MVHS Link Crew team has created a webpage filled with resources, key information, and opportunities for frosh to get involved and get needed support. Current freshmen should check out the new Website here.

Following our Winter Break, Link Crew will be promoting opportunities for frosh to connect virtually with their Link Crew leaders in an effort to get further connected to the school.
